Nearly 50 FCW Alums in College Soccer This Season!

15 former FC Wisconsin players begin their college soccer careers this fall, joining a total of 47 players from the club competing in college soccer in the 2024 season.

No single club has had more alumni play at the University of Wisconsin than FCW, and this season is no different. Aryssa Mahrt leads a quintet of former players on the Badger’s roster. Mahrt was named a Big 10 Player to Watch, and is joined on the roster by Sophomore Megan Cornell, Freshman Jenna Baumann, Graduate Transfer Student Peighton Steffen, and senior Dara AndringaSteffen returns home to Madison as a grad student after a standout 4-year career at Creighton University.

The Power 4 Conferences include a number of FCW players. In the Big 10, Marisa Grzesiak will look to build upon a strong 2023 season at Indiana University, where she will compete against Fiona Skwierawski at Minnesota. Lilliah Blum returns as a starter at the University of Utah, and will compete for a Big 12 title. Hoping to stop the Utes will be Riley Franklin and Baylor University, where Franklin will hope to make a name for herself in goal. In the ACC, Liesel Odden will begin her senior season at Syracuse, as will Jayden Rupnow with Kentucky in the SEC.

Along with Wisconsin, there are two other college programs boasting 4 or more FC Wisconsin alums this fall - Illinois State & Marquette UniversityAbby Hall transferred from Seton Hall to join the Redbirds, and along with freshmen Eily Henderson and Chloe Cline all started ISU’s first game of the season this week, with Cline scoring the winning goal. Kate Nonn is another FCW goalkeeper hoping to make an impact this season with the Redbirds.

Marquette dropped their opening game of the season at Colorado, with Dri Alberts and Haley Christianson seeing significant minutes. Maggie Starker and Emily McCarthy are also competing for the Golden Eagles hoping to lead them to a Big East crown. Elsewhere in the Big East Conference, Ahnna Faust will be a junior and Victoria Bunz will be a senior, both at Providence University.  Abigail Santana will begin her senior season at Creighton University.

The Valley Conference has been significantly impacted by FC Wisconsin players over the years. In addition to the 4 players at Illinois State, Layne Frericks will begin her career at Indiana State University, while Lillie Tabor will continue to impress in her second season at Belmont University.

In the Horizon League, Dalina Jonuzi returns to conference champion UW-Milwaukee, and Alyssa Thomas begins her career at Wright State University. Josie Langhans came off the bench to start her second season in the Mid-American Conference with Eastern Michigan, as did Delaney Hoelker in her first game for Temple University of the American Athletic Conference.

Haley Johnson will hope to continue her impressive form with The University of the Pacific, but unfortunately Reese Berge will have to wait for her first action at North Dakota State University due to an ACL injury. Berge will no doubt make a big impression when the time comes.

Annika Seem got her second season at Stetson University off to great start by scoring a last minute winner in their opening game of the season. Seem scored a number of goals from midfield last season and will be looking to lead the Hatters to new heights in 2024.

As FC Wisconsin continues to grow, the impact of FC Wisconsin players is also growing across all levels of college soccer. In 2024 fourteen FCW players will compete in NCAA Division 2 &  3, and NAIA soccer.

Havanah Brockington and Alyson Lazaroff continue to compete for Michigan Tech and Seton Hill University. Along with Jordan Rosenfeld at The University of Minnesota-Duluth, they will be representing FC Wisconsin at the Division 2 level. Melissa Howard will compete at the NAIA level as a freshman for Concordia University - Nebraska.

In Division 3, Maya Alberts returns to Lawrence University as a first team all-conference selection in 2023, and Lauren Davis will hope to go a step further with MIT after reaching the sweet-16 round last season. Dikka KC returns for her sophomore season at Wellesley College.

Jude Dobrinska has started every game in goal for UW-Whitewater so far in her career, and returns for her junior season hoping to make a run at a WIAC championship. Joining Dobrinska in Whitewater are a pair of freshman from FCW - Jasmine Wilson and Kalee Fricke are sure to make a big impact for the Warhawks. Also in the WIAC, Mia Brunelli begins her second season at UW-Stout.

Aleah Reesman will bring quality and experience to St Norbert’s College following her transfer from UW-Green Bay, and Annabelle Pollock will be a multi-sport athlete at Luther College, competing in both soccer and swimming.

Rounding out the FCW Class of 2024 are Sam Bennett as she heads to Benedictine University, and Nadia Felizmena who will take the field for Edgewood College.

We wish all our former players good luck in the college season and are excited to watch their continued success. We thank all these players for the mark they left on the club, and for continuing to positively represent FC Wisconsin.
