Pre-Season Training Well Underway - Additional Exhibitions Saturday

All FC Wisconsin Eclipse teams have now been in pre-season training for at least a week, as the newest and youngest FC Wisconsin Eclipse teams began their first trainings in the program on Monday, August 12.  They joined the U15-U18 teams who have had 2 weeks of pre-season already, beginning their training on July 29.  For older teams, the pre-season period provides opportunity to establish cultural foundations across all the teams, begin to build on players' existing fitness bases, and time to put together the basics of team tactics.  For the younger teams, the pre-season provides an introduction to FC Wisconsin Eclipse training expectations and culture, coaching styles, and opportunity to begin to understand the style of play that represents FC Wisconsin Eclipse.

While predominantly a training period, the pre-season also includes some limited outside competition to help prepare for the ECNL season.  In that regard, the U15 and U17 teams participated in the Eclipse Challenge Cup last weekend in order to play 11 vs. 11 outside competition and prepare for the ECNL season-openers in Denver, CO over Labor Day weekend.  These games help identify areas for future training focus, as well as allowing players to become more familiar with basic team tactics.  Through the weekend, the 2 FC Wisconsin Eclipse teams won 5 games, lost 2, and tied 1.

The U16 and U18 teams combined to play Cardinal Stritch University on August 15 at home in Germantown.  The combined teams came away with a deserved win and continued progress in establishing the tactical foundation for the upcoming season.

The FC Wisconsin Eclipse pre-season continues this Saturday, when all six teams will be playing Sockers FC - Chicago at the Germantown complex in the final "outside" competitions of the season.  The ECNL season for the U15-U18 teams willl kick off on August 31 in Denver, CO in the ECNL Midwest Conference Inter-Division Event.
