Joana Bielefeld Named Youth Academy Director for Fall 2018

FC Wisconsin is excited to announce that coach Joana Bielefeld will be moving into a full-time position in the club as the Youth Academy Director this fall.  In this role, Joana will be responsible for oversight of the club’s U6-U10 Programs, and will also coach in the U11 and U12 Pre-ECNL Program.

Joana has been coaching in the club since 2015, and recently completed a Master’s in Sports and Performance Psychology at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.   In college, Joana played 1 year at Ohio University before transferring to the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she started 41 games over her final two years and earned Academic All Big 10 Honors in 2011 and 2012.  As a youth soccer player Joana was a member of one of the most successful women’s teams in Wisconsin history, playing in 3 Regional Finals (winning 1), the Surf Cup Final, the Disney Showcase Final, and in 2010 playing in the WPSL Final Four.

“We are thrilled to have Joana join the club full-time this fall, and to have her working with our youngest players,” said Director of Coaching and Methodology Christian Lavers.  “Jo has worked with Andy Lee (FC Wisconsin Youth Director of Coaching) for the last several years as a coach, and believes in the club’s methods, process, and values intrinsically.  She will help make our great Youth Academy program even better.”

The FC Wisconsin Youth Academy is for players from U6-U10 and serves as the first entry point for players into the club.  The Youth Academy teaches players basic decision-making concepts in the game and fundamental technique within a fun and challenging learning environment.

“One of Joana’s most important responsibilities will be to ensure that players in the Youth Academy not only have a great experience, but that they learn a solid foundation in concept and technique to give them the best opportunity for success in older age groups,” said Andy Lee.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the FC Wisconsin coaching staff full time,” said Joana Bielefeld. “I am fortunate for the opportunity to focus on the younger age groups within the club, as this is where I feel the love for the sport is established.  I am eager to give to these young players what my youth coaches gave to me.  I believe in the club’s mission and hope to help create an environment that best facilitates soccer development and encourages players to aspire for greatness.”

By having an experienced and full-time coach lead the Youth Academy FC Wisconsin is demonstrating the club’s commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment at every age group in the club, and providing a seamless transition in teaching, learning, and experience from the Youth Academy to the Pre-ECNL program at U11 and U12.  For more information on the Youth Academy, click here.  To sign your daughter up for the FC Wisconsin Youth Academy this fall, click here.
