Joana Bielefeld Joins FC Wisconsin Eclipse as Newest Staff Coach

FC Wisconsin Eclipse is proud to announce that Joana Bielefeld has joined the club as the newest staff coach.  Joana recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, after a highly successful career with the Badgers.

Bielefeld played college soccer her freshman year for Ohio University, transferring at the end of the year to play 3 years for the University of Wisconsin.  She finished her eligibility in 2012, after starting 41 games in her final two seasons and being named Academic All-Big 10 in both 2011 and 2012.  During her career at Wisconsin, she helped the Badgers to two NCAA tournament appearances (2010, 2012) and a 33-19-9 record.  In her youth career, Joana trained under the same developmental curriculum currently used at FC Wisconsin Eclipse, leading her team to 2 Regional Finals, the Surf Cup Final, and the Disney final – a list of performances that made them one of the most successful teams in Wisconsin history. She also helped lead her WPSL team to the 2010 WPSL Final Four.

Joana is another former player to return to coach in the system where she developed, and to help the next generation of players accomplish their goals.  "We are very excited to have her join the staff, and are confident that the players will enjoy the opportunity to work with her," said Director of Coaching Christian Lavers.  "We are fortunate to have another great role model for the young players of FC Wisconsin Eclipse to look up to and learn from."  (For those who want to hear more from Joana in her words, you can read an interview we did with her last year here.)
