On March 24, many players from FC Wisconsin Eclipse braved the frozen, blustery temperatures to watch the Chicago Red Stars play against Marquette University in a pre-season spring friendly. The Chicago Red Stars are 1 of 8 professional teams in the new National Womens Soccer League (NWSL), and are in the second week of their pre-season.
The Red Stars have a strong "Eclipse connection," as Rory Dames (Eclipse Select) is the head coach, Christian Lavers (FC Wisconsin Eclipse) is one of the assistant coaches, and Trae Manny (Eclipse Select) is the goalkeeper coach. The team also has a Wisconsin connection with former US Women’s National Team player Leslie Osborne.
Thanks to the players that came out to watch the game in very difficult conditions, and saw a glimpse of the top level of women’s soccer in the United States!
