On Tuesday, October 30, FC Wisconsin Eclipse held a free training clinic for U12 and U13 female players from FC Milwaukee to introduce the players to a typical FC Wisconsin Eclipse training session, and to talk to them about their possible future in the ECNL. The session, reflective of the FC Wisconsin Eclipse training curriculum, was heavily focused on technical skill and emphasized a quick, short passing style of play.
"Players at the U12 and U13 age group are in one of the ’golden’ windows of their development," said Monica White. "At this age, they learn so quickly, and can make huge strides in technical development in a short period of time - so it is incredibly important that they are getting lots of information and repetition of the basics."
FC Wisconsin Eclipse is affiliated with FC Milwaukee in order to provide a smooth pathway for players to enter the ECNL and the ECNL training platform at FC Wisconsin Eclipse as they age up and as their ability allows. Part of this pathway is providing some developmental insight for these players through free clinics throughout the year.
"We saw improvement even from the start to end of the session," said Christian Lavers. "You could see the players really begin to better understand body positioning, movement of the ball, and the type of passes they need to be able to play to be successful. It was exciting to see - and the players looked like they had a great time doing it. We are looking forward to working with them again."
FC Wisconsin Eclipse will be hosting several training clinics during the winter months open to U11-U13 players. The clinics will focus on individual skill development within a high paced, fun environment. Check back frequently for news on these training opportunities.
"We are always looking to help young players, and our training environment is always open - every day of the year - for new players to come in to a session and see what we do, and why players develop so well at FC Wisconsin Eclipse," said White.
