On February 2-3, 2013, nearly 60 players in the 1994-1997 birth years from across the ECNL Midwest Conference participated in the ECNL Player Development Program ("PDP") event held at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The ECNL PDP - Madison included players selected from 5 Midwestern Conference clubs (Eclipse Select, FC Wisconsin Eclipse, Minnesota Thunder Academy, St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Illiinois, and St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Missouri) based on an objective scouting and recommendation process extending over the course of the ECNL season.
Thirteen players from FC Wisconsin Eclipse were invited to participate in the event: Cassidy Blanchard, Jordyn Bloomer, Kenzie Challoner, Jessica Cooley, Erin Corrigan, Gabby Dorsey, Steph Fabry, Christina Feller, Caroline Fink, Allison Jacobson, Brianna Jaeger, Chloe Knudtson, and Michela Ongaro.
Every ECNL PDP includes one training session and two games over the course of 2 days. US Soccer scouts are also in attendance at every event to identify players for consideration for youth national teams. The ECNL PDP - Madison also included a presentation on attacking and defending in the 4:3:3 - the system of play of the US Soccer Youth National Teams.
ECNL PDPs are held 1 time per year for every club within the ECNL, and are created with three primary goals: (i) identify the top players within each ECNL conference at multiple age groups; (ii) provide a great developmental experience; and (iii) recognize and reward individual performance and achievement. Every ECNL PDP is sanctioned as an Olympic Development Program event, as part of the US Club Soccer id2 National Identification and Development Program.
